The Champions league which is due to start off In November will be a sureshot Hit and get the hottest reviews on all the Best cricketers of the world from Australia,England,South AFrica and India.

Boring Names?
Could The names have been more creative ?
Are we going to look at the ratings?
Will IPL be able to connect with you and me?
Some of these questions needs to be attended to be au fait with the Larger picture .Is IPL going to ensure that the fastidious franchisees are able to recover their money within a diminutive time period.
Vijay Mallya the liquor baron due to restrictions on advertisementsof his liquor products that ranges from whisky to IMFL or a Beer to a Wine has been scouting around for new marketing avenues .He Introduced the Kingfisher calender to place his brand at a favorable position and his effort did grab some eyeballs although the brand visibility was restricted to the upper echelons of the society.His next step was to Introduce Kingfisher Airlines as the brand sustained momentum and became a successful marketing initiative in the process.
But Vijay Mallya is certainly not one to be pleased with the success of marketing his brand to a niche product segment..He wanted the Youth to connect to the Kingfisher Brand and so he bought the Spyker Formula 1 team and renamed it Force India F1 team…But F1 is a sport which is miniscule in terms of reach and popularity In India where Television shops with transparent windows are crammed with teeming jingoistic crowd rooting for India which we call cricket.
And the Bangalore IPL team was snapped up by Vijay Mallya and he renamed it Royal Challengers..He in an effort to make his brand more visible named his team on a liquor brand, which might succeed in augmenting his revenues from the Liqour division, but at the end Does the name really sound appealing?
Well it’s a question that will be answered by the Bangaloreans and the Indian cricket lovers at large in the coming few months..
A similar illustration can be made with respect to the Hyderabad IPL team.The Hyderabad IPL team was picked up by the Deccan Chronicle group and obviously the publication group might have been ruminating over a possibility in expanding their reach to other fertile grounds in the north to ensure the shareholders remain invested with the company .With expansion being the keyword in any business ,Deccan Chronicle comprehended that stave off competetion from possible rival and established publication groups like the Hindustan Times and Times of India with loyal readership Deccan Chronicle either had the laborious option of building a loyal readership for themselves which at the least could put them off by a decade or to do something out of the box that their rival groups couldn’t envisage in the near future.
The Deccan Chronicle Group dug deep into their pockets and became the owner of the Hyderabad IPL team by forking out over $100 million dollars which could be a major breakthrough depending not only on the success of the IPL but also on the success of the Hyderabad team and as a result could make a big presence in untried markets .
However The Deccan Chronicle Group decided to name the Hyderabad team by retaining the prefix of their Flagship Brand Deccan Chronicle thus rechristening it The Deccan Chargers with a Bull incorporated to further reinstate the strength and might of the Brand “Deccan Chronicle” whose success will eventually rub off to its associate brands and publications of the Group.
The name might not be able to match with the energy ,originality and the simplicity of Kolkata Knight Riders but it still could be a sensation if it is able to BULLDOZE its way to the Top of the IPL championship.
The SRK Effect could not push up ticket sales in Kolkata which could mislead the investors and the sponsors connected with the game but with the media backing the IPL for obvious reasons ,the awareness has snowballed to gigantic proportions and it will not be too long before the cash registers start ringing for The Red Chillies Group.
With India’s Richest Man and India’s No 1 Entertainer in the scenario,IPL does show a lot of promise as Mukesh Ambani and SRK envisage a lucrative business opportunity and the IPL being aired at prime time ,Indian Television could see a new high and TRPs shooting over the roof ..
The India –Pakistan 20-20 Finals saw a TRP of 9 and emerged the best show if I may call it in TV and to put that to perspective India’s No 1 soap Banoo Main Teri Dulhaan after pipping Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi which rooled the roost for seven years and currently in the second spot had a TRP of 4 which shows why Cricket is a religion In India which appeals to the youth and the old rooting For a Sachin Or a Sourav Or a Rahul Or recently MS Dhoni.
